Lance Armstrong Tumbles From His Pedestal

The verdict is out and it doesn't look good for Lance. Following last week's 1,000 page case file regarding the anti-doping allegations, more than 6 major brands dropped the famous spokesman overnight. Nike was the big one, citing "seemingly insurmountable evidence" and stated they had been "misled" by Armstrong for over 10 years.

In response to the news, Armstrong has stepped down from the board at his famous cancer charity Livestrong, in order to shield them from the likely backlash.

Public opinion regarding this high profile case has ranged from extreme anger and betrayal to unwavering support and cries of not guilty. Armstrong still maintains his innocence even though for the 7 years he won the Tour de France, 6 of the 7 second place winners also tested positive for doping.

It is really sad to see such a public hero figure taken down by something like this. Regardless of what he did or did not do when it came to racing, he used his celebrity status to promote a good cause and bring attention to a important charity.
